Removal of Watch Apps

Our digital partner regularly reviews the usage of our apps across all operating platforms and devices.

A recent review has highlighted how few people are making use of the watch apps - less than 0.4% of all users. The cost of maintaining the watch apps has been increasing for some time and in a few cases, the watch apps have delayed phone app features being launched because of the need to submit the phone and watch apps together as a single package. Both must pass review before they can be released and the complication of ensuring watch apps meet increasing combination of watches, operating systems and phones makes their continuation difficult to justify. 

Watch apps will be removed from the app stores from 6th March 2023, which will enable our digital partner to focus more time on delivering new and enhanced features that have more active use and value.

Watch app users will not need to take any action following the removal. App notifications from the phone will continue to be displayed on a users watch as this is a separate capability unaffected by this change. If you have already installed the watch app it will not be removed from your watch, but over time it may not function as the app gets updated.

The functionality of our main NCTX Buses app remains unaffected and we are sorry that we can no longer offer watch apps.
